School of Tomorrow (#SOT15) – What’s in it For You?

With 40 years of excellence in education in Pakistan, Beaconhouse is all set to organize a one-of-its-kind educational and cultural festival on the 28th and 29th of November at Beach Luxury Hotel in Karachi. Initiated as an endeavor to shed light on the current status of education in the country and to redefine it, the School of Tomorrow (SOT) Conference is one of the very first International Education and Cultural Festival in Pakistan.

Spanning across a period of two days, the event will be graced by some of the distinguished experts and renowned thinkers in Pakistan and from various parts of the globe who will be delivering a series of essays and presentations on a wide variety of topics.

Be it an understanding of a child’s psychology or an issue revolving around digital safety and concerns, a story about massive cultural invasion or an in-depth study about arts, it is the broad spectrum of  topics being chosen that has piqued my interest in attending this conference.

The School of Tomorrow (SOT) conference is a free-of-cost public event allowing accessibility to all and sundry; however, registration is compulsory for attending all the exclusive sessions at #SOT15.

Here’s the link to its online registration form.

Over all these years, Beaconhouse has not only been excelling in providing productive and meaningful education to children but it has also remained conscious of its role as a socially aware organization and has supported the community and contributed generously in times of national crisis through various activities and organizing the School of Tomorrow (SOT) conference comes under the same umbrella.

In case you would like to find out more about School of tomorrow, check out their Facebook page or their website: http://www.schooloftomorrow.beaconhouse.net

Come forward and be a part of the Educational Evolution as Beaconhouse takes the lead through #SOT15.

Until next, see ya! Happy Reading, Peeps! :)

Wasu Returns with Mind-Boggling Poetry on Education in Pakistan

Amidst the various forms of corruption prevailing in Pakistan, the state of degeneracy in the education system of our country is the most gravest of all. The ever-increasing number of so-called “ghost schools” emerging in the region is an alarming situation, which can only bring our education system closer to a collapse as we continue to remain silent and ignorant to our surroundings.

In times like these calling for desperate measures and a reawakening, Wasu Khan, the poet and pop star hailing from Balochistan, stepped up and recorded poetry in hope of enlightening the masses about the saddening and disappointing state of schools and ‪education in our country. His well-articulated piece of poetry was recently picked up by an educational campaign called “Alif Ailaan” who had shared his recitation on their social media pages and this is where I discovered him.

A humorous, yet eye-opening poetry by Wasu Khan on education-related issues in Pakistan.

The poetry clearly reflects a number of corrupt practices lurking within the sector which includes and are not limited to the presence of weak governance and poor management, lack of proper infrastructure, the mismanagement of funds and the absence of true dedication towards the profession.

Presenting harsh reality with a touch a humor, Wasu’s poetry is not just a piece of verse but a mind-altering attempt that equally hits your head and heart.

Here’s what some of my people had to say about the video:

Completely agreeing to what they say, we must remember that it’s never too late to change and the power to change and the power to emerge as our own heroes came embedded in us, it’s only waiting to be harnessed. Come forward and play your part like Wasu did! Write something. Do something. Or just click and share the video allowing it to reach and influence a wider mass. After all, it’s the little effort that goes a long way!
